Problem Discovery

As a student, let's say your math class is right next to the library, and you always plan to grab some books after class. However, despite your best intentions, you consistently forget to pick up the books because your mind is preoccupied with the math lesson or other thoughts. This forgetfulness results in inefficiency, as you miss out on valuable study materials and have to make separate trips to the library, disrupting your schedule and causing frustration

Mindset Research

Proactive interference occurs when previously learned information interferes with the recall of newer information.

User Research

10 students frequently encountering challenges in reminding themselves about tasks related to specific places were interviewed.

Main Objective

  • Easy Navigation

  • Simplicity

From here I decided what actions and feature were necessary to tackle the problems that were arising. I wanted to create very easy navigational tool that can help us with our everyday task. A site map was built to illustrate the app’s navigation structure.

Wireframe and mockup sketches

Here is the design at the initial phase as we sketched and tried to simplify the design idea on the paper to have a better understanding.

The Location-Based Reminder App revolutionizes task management through geolocation. Users can set reminders triggered by specific locations, seamlessly integrating digital reminders with real-world actions. With user-friendly interfaces and customizable notifications, the app enhances productivity and efficiency by offering timely prompts for tasks based on the user's location.

Navigation Clarity: The streamlined process of setting locations and triggers received positive feedback, enhancing overall user satisfaction.

Notification Customization: Participants expressed a strong desire for more notification customization options. While they liked the basic notifications, they desired the ability to set different types of alerts based on the importance and urgency of the reminder, indicating a need for more nuanced notification settings.

β€’ User-centered design is crucial: Prioritizing users' needs and preferences is key for a successful application.

β€’ Collaboration between designers and developers is essential: Close teamwork ensures accurate translation of app design into the final product.

β€’ Testing and iteration are necessary: Constant testing and refining enhance user experience and overall success of the app.
